The largest Zentradi megastructure ever seen, the Factory Satellite is an immense artificial construct designed to build military materiel for the Zentradi forces. At 3,000 kilometers in height and roughly twice that size in width, the Factory Satellite dwarfs even the Fulbtzs Berrentzs Class Flagship and is more massive than Earth's moon. Within this planetary scale structure lies a near endless amount of automated machinery, construction bays and abundant resources. The factory satellites are designed for production of standarized weapons, weapons improvements and also possess a limited capacity for self-repair. There are also satellites for cloning Zentradi and at least one factory satellite for building fleet motherships is known to exist in the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. However, most satellites appear tooled only to produce specific war machines and thus production of particular materiel can be curtailed by destroying specific satellites (as happened to production of the Glaug). It is assumed most satellites do not possess fold-devices, but some have been discovered to be fold capable. Though the gargantuan structure possess numerous weapons to remove navigational hazards, a garrison fleet provides primary defense for the Factory Satellite. Typically, a Zentradi fleet would be supplied by a group of 20-50 Factory Satellites.
On October 2011, U.N. Spacy Commander Britai along with Archivist Exedol Folmo, Major Misa Hayase, Major Claudia LaSalle, Hikaru Ichijo, Max Jenius, and Milia Jenius commenced an operation to seize a Factory Satellite in the possession of the Zentradi Army. Like most Zentradi prior to human contact, Commander Dagaos garrison fleet around the Factory Satellite maintained strict separation between male and female genders and possessed no culture outside of warfare. As such, the Zentradi were easily shocked by transmissions of music and male/female contact. So extreme was the Zentradi reaction that some ship captains destroyed any other vessels they deemed "contaminated" by culture and thus Commander Dagao's flagship was destroyed by friendly fire. With the garrison forces in complete chaos, Britai's Nupetiet Vergnitzs along with Valkyrie fighters armed with reaction warheads destroyed or disabled the fleet. Soon after, Britai docked his ship inside the Factory Satellite and preparations were made to space fold the facility back to Earth.
The Factory Satellite was successfully placed near Earth at a Lagrange point in November 2011. So large was the Factory Satellite that although it was positioned at a Lagrange point, the naked eye could still see the satellite from the surface of the Earth (though the distance made the satellite appear noticeably smaller than the moon). Once examined closely, it was discovered that the Factory Satellite's production capabilities were seriously diminished, the result of damage from Supervision Army attacks over the countless years of the war. Eventually, the Factory Satellite would be made largely functional and was instrumental in the defense buildup of the U.N. Spacy forces post-Space War One. Once in the hands of the United Nations, the production systems of the Factory Satellite are changed to manufacture variable fighters, destroids, Earth reconstruction materials and Megaroad Class manufacturing. Factory Satellites that have been discovered through colonization and exploration are absorbed into the UN immigration fleets.
