And also how difficult is it to add those LEDs. Of course it is very feasible to add LEDs such as tiny SMDs. But the concern are the price and also the QC process. The feasibility to ensure the durability of the SMDs inserted into the clothing material is kinda challenging. Since the Iron Spider suit is textile, there will be stretching and pulling of threads and the pulling points are endless, unlike the articulated parts with Ironman suit which u can ensure the places of the articulated points. For a textile suit, you can say that the articulated points are endless cos everything can be pulled and stretched. The process of organizing the wires can be a pain in the ass. And the long term durability may jeopardize the experience of both the manufacturers and users.
The solution to solve such a problem can be Hottoys acquiring the "wireless led" technology from the patent owner. If wireless led can be added to those figures, there will no longer be any problem of wiring. and also, if a single led is broken or burnt, replacing only one of all the leds will be a quick solution rather than reconnecting the wires. But the price we are paying for the Iron Spider may escalate to 2K or even few hundreds more. Since it may be very risky to set such a price tag to cover the incremental costs, the current reasonable move for Hottoys is to set the price at aroud 1.5K and sacrifice the lightings in the body parts. |
