I find this anime a little distasteful.
Making jokes about the difference between cultures, nations politics, races or believe is not an easy subject.
As a Chinese/ HK people, imagine you hear some "jokes" about Chinese from another nations/races...
Of course, you can tell me I am taking it too serious.

You might be right at some point, but anime as a media, it always have this love/ hate feelings among audiences, some like it, some don't.
And another fact about life, is that most human jokes are in fact contain more or less the differences between things and unfortunate events...
So I guess it depends on how you take the impression really...
