小弟上次去日本(2004年初)，都臨急抱佛腳，即時睇書(坐飛機、巴士或電車)學左幾個簡單日文字。例如：你好、早晨、午安、晚安、好食、唔好意思、埋單、我係香港人等等呢D一般香港人普遍都識既日文，都算勉強夠用，其他唔識或想搵人幫手，就拎住本書、指住本書D圖同日文問人。不過依家某D大型百貨如Sakuraya，售貨員都識講一D簡單但要好留心聽既英文，因為日本人講英文發音同我地好唔同，但酒店職員英文好好多。無記錯買滿1萬日元(keep單)可以退稅，而好多大公司都有退稅櫃位，果時同個staff講左好耐、聽得好辛苦，終於都去到退稅櫃位退稅。
不過到今時今日，以上既野可能有變。:shy:

Depending on which hotel you are staying and the period of your trip, I think 8xxx with 9 days hotel is reasonable.
(P.S. I have been to japan for 1X times in this decade).
I am now investigating the new All Nippxn airline package with the midnight flight. It costs 49xx which includes only 2 nights of hotel (Keio, Shinjuku). Summer vacation surcharge is not yet included wo. It is really bloody!!! :70:

令人難以想像??? Why is that??? Japanese has improved their English skill a lot, it's not 20 years ago, where not much people can speak English. Eventhough back in 20 years, I went to Tokyo with my family without joining any tour too, and it's totally fine! I can still remember almost every single restaurant in Tokyo has a chinese oversea student working in there... hahaha.
If anyone of you planning to go to Japan, DON'T JOIN ANY TOUR!!! They are total rip off!!! Japanese writing is full of chinese character. And they can speak english well enough. Even in countryside area, a lot of japanese can speak some english now.
Be Brave Guys! You are brave enough for S.H.E. and Yuusha's Toy but not brave enough to travel without joinning tour! What's wrong with you guys!!! TRUST YOURSELF LIKE I TRUSTED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shinjuku Prince is a hotel which is quite convenient. But the room (semi-double) to me is rather small. You cannot widely open two luggage bags in the room. I perfer to choose Keio or others for a more spacious room although of course the price will be much higher. I also agree that 49XX for 2 nights is a bit expensive but the new ANA package allows you to make full use of the time.
My personal advice: if this is your first time to visit japan, try to spare some time to enjoy the on-sen (hot spring). It's really good! :71:
