CARRA: DON'T BLAME RIISE

JamieCarragher claims he and his teammates must take collectiveresponsibility after Chelsea were gifted an eleventh hour equaliser inthe Anfield leg of the
Champions League semi-final.
AvramGrant's men left Merseyside with the upperhand after John Arne Riiseheaded into his own net with virtually the last touch of the game.
Earlierin the evening Dirk Kuyt had given Liverpool a deserved opener but it'sChelsea who are now the bookies' favourites after gaining a valuableaway goal.
Not that Carragher is looking to point fingers.
The vice-captain told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was just bad luck. We've all been there, all done something like that. There's no blame attached to John.
"Ithink a couple of things happened before that and there were a coupleof things we could have done to stop the cross even coming in. It's a team game, we are all in it together."
TheReds have yet to score at Stamford Bridge under Rafa Benitez but thatmust change if the squad is to board a plane to Moscow in May.
Carragheradded: "Obviously when you concede as late as we did you're going to bedisappointed but we've got a massive game now and it's only like itbeing 1-1 at half-time. We've just got to get on with it.
"We'vegot to regroup but it's only half-time. They're obviously delighted, you could see that at the end, but there is another game to go yet.
"It'llbe tough to score there, we have struggled to do that recently becausethey are good defensively. But if we get a goal there it's advantageLiverpool again. We've got to go there looking for a goal, then we'llhave time to get a second and make it very tough for them.
"It'sa different scenario now than previous occasions we've gone there. Ifyou go there in the league, 0-0 is not a bad result, but now we have toscore. It's a different mentality."
It was Liverpool who created the better chances in what was another cagey affair between the sides.
PetrCech was forced to pull off top-drawer saves to deny Steven Gerrard andFernando Torres, while at the other end Pepe Reina had a relativelystress-free evening.
But, while the Reds can take heart fromthe fact they dominated, Carragher shrugs off the suggestion thatChelsea are lucky to be going into the second leg with an away goal.
He said: "Itdoesn't matter whether they troubled us or not, they got the away goalthey wanted. It doesn't matter if they deserved it, they have theadvantage now and it's made it tougher for us." |
