‘Transformers 4’: Michael Bay purges stars, may go into space [Hero Complex]
“It’s not a reboot, that’s maybe the wrong word,”
「リブートと言う言葉は間違っている。」
“I don’t want to say reboot because then people will think we’re doing a Spider-Man and starting from the beginning. We’re not. We’re taking the story that you’ve seen － the story we’ve told in three movies already － and we’re taking it in a new direction. But we’re leaving those three as the history. It all still counts.
「リブートとは言いたくない、なぜならみんなは私達が「（アメイジング）スパイダーマン」やろうとしている、つまり初めからやり直そうとしてると思ってしまうだろう。それは私達がやろうとしていることではない。我々はこれまでみんなが観たもの、つまり過去3作ですでに語った物語の中から新しい方向に向かおうとしている。しかし、過去3作は（「4」の）過去の歴史として残そうとしている。すべてを（同じ時間軸の物語として）カウントしている。」
Could the new story involve a departure from Earth? “I think so, yeah, a little,” Bay said. “That feels like the way to go, doesn’t it? I want to go a little off but I don’t want to go too sci-fi. I still want to keep it grounded.That’s what works in these movies, that’s what makes it accessible.”
新しいストーリーは地球から出ることになる？
「そう思う。総物語は進むべきだと思う。そう思わないか？少しズレた方向に行きたいが、しかしあまりにSFに寄りたいとは思わない。私はまだ地球に留まりたいと思っている。それはこれらの映画になかで動くものになり、アクセス可能になる。」
