Use those hairs from cheap cheap girl figures.  You can get them from many cheap toy shop.  Also, just use any kind of feathers and I have tried many different kind of materials.

I have just sticked those hairs on top of the HT plastic one and did not replace it because you simply have another set of hairs to use when Thor is not wearing his helmet.
