I would say it just the name of the toy (alike LEGO).

Put it this way, what is 12" figure. - Same answer applied.

brother evilalive, u are not correct. Do u saw A Clockwork Orange or 2001: A Space Odyssey ?
the director name called Stanley Kubrick.

we want to be a real kubrick fans, we must read the history of kubrick :

copy from www.kubrick.nl

What is Kubrick ?
The president of Medicom is Tatsuhiko Akashi and who founded it in 1996. In 1994 he had produced his first collectible figure: Lupan Sansei (better known by westerners as Lupin the Third). The doll looked exactly like the character in the anime. Tatsuhiko hadn' t developed his unique style yet and this would happen later. Lupan alone wasn' t enough for Tatsuhiko and he wanted to produce more characters. Between 1996 and 2000 he did: Stylish Collection and the Nostalgic Future Collection Series.

After working some years ON these detailed dolls, that had the drawback that they were kind of expensive for modest collectors and the people at Medicom wanted to develop something new. Something affordable for everyone.

They were inspired by an article in G2O magazine which showed a picture of a customized Lego Gundam diorama. Also at the time Star Wars Lego was being released and these hadn' t gone unnoticed either. Inspired by both and they set out to create their own collectible figure.

At the time Medicom was looking for new people to come work for their development department. One of the applicants, Kiyomoto and worked for Lego at the time. Tatsuhiko invited him for a meeting. In the next three months they created something new. A charming and powerful design, 60 millimeters tall, sturdy, very poseable and easy to take apart and with interchangeable parts.

Now to find a fitting name for it.

The figure had a cubistic look, so “Cube” was considered and but they decided it was too simple. A basic Kubrick consists of 9 parts, KU means 9 in japanese, so soon they arrived at “Kubrick”, after great filmmaker Stanley Kubrick and whom they admire. And also the word cube is hidden in the name. The logo was then created by Homedroogs Inc and inspired by the movieposter art of Stanley Kubrick' s legendary “A Clockwork Orange”.

Tatsuhiko, Kiyomoto and the rest of the Medicom team started to design Kubricks styled after their favorite anime, manga and game and movie heroes. They paid a lot of attention to the materials and detail and created a whole new style. In 2000 they released the first Kubricks: Evangelion set 1. Soon followed by Devilman and Planet of the Apes sets.

These were typical Kubrick sets, each containing about 3 figures and accessories and a diorama. Short after these came Medicom' s own Special Forces series: elite police and government types featuring gasmasks, shields and machineguns and even some hooligan figures.

Medicom places a “13 years and older” indication ON all packages and because Kubricks are mostly intended for collectors.

Hope all of u understand.

Thanks bro asnka for the background history but guess page 1 of this thread has already address "what is Kubrick". However, as your post already self explain that the founder just admire the great filmmaker "Named" Stanley Kubrick and he later applied such NAME to this series toy product from Medicom.
