1.8kg....Is this really a selling point? I doubt.

Yes "Heaviness" is a key of quality and quantity of diecast but I will say a balance of size and weight is more important. e.g. the figure could not hold up it's limbs for different postures sometimes and for sure it cannot keep a stylish posture for display. The difficulty to hold and move it easily when you play it on hand is another issue. I believe people who played Bandai Metal Structure understand what I mean.

p.s. 1.8kg is the similar weight of CCS GunBuster with its cape on.
