Diorama - Creating rock surface

Hey all

Anyone has experience creating rock surfaces on diorama?  can someone give me some pointers?

I want to create rough textured rock surfaces, mostly for the "cliff" side for my build, though the problem is, I don't know how to.  One way is to use rough plaster to do it, but it will be brittle and heavy.  Short of using a carving knife on the syrofoam, what is the best way to create a rough rock surface?

I will suggest using corrugated Aluminium foil and put plaster inside to make it.

Or you can buy the kit set from Woodland to make the rock.

Thanks, thats an interesting idea, never thought of using aluminum foil, that is probably the cheap solution for me, i will give that a shot

Try google company named woodland scenics.  You will be surprise how easy you can create some very realistic landscape.
