clear coating is a good idea but there is a risk of melting the metallic coating.
The metallic coating is very vulnerable to solvent like alcohol and thinner. Since the Mr color clear coating is just a spray form of Mr. Color clear paint, the thinner will still melt the metallic paint. A little bit more may already melt the paint, I would not try it.
